The Manchester-based Trio Fauve consists of Flute, Viola and Harp and is named after the school of French post-Impressionist artists known as the Fauves (literally, wild beasts) whose work was intense, energetic, even crude. This period in French art also coincides with the composition of many works by French composers for flute, harp and strings that form the core of the repertoire for this evocative combination of instruments.
Programme
Maurine Ravel (1875 - 1937) - Le Tombeau de Couperin
Astor Piazzolla (1921 - 1992) - Histoire du Tango
Camille Saint-Saens (1835 - 1921) - Danse Macabre Op.19 (arr. Sylvain Blassel)
Claude Debussy (1862 - 1918) - Sonata
