A Meeting of Minds
With glorious weather ahead of us, Joan Gem & I waited with great anticipation for a group from the Williamson Art Gallery, Birkenhead. The Friends have been formed relatively recently & they said they wanted to pick our brains about the running of a successful & thriving Friends group. We were only too happy to oblige. It's not often we are called upon to be 'consultants'!
After coffee & a look round the exhibition in the Textile Gallery by the erudite curator Frances Pritchard (which the group requested) & Visitor Team leader Chris, we had lunch in the breathtaking 'Café in the Trees' at the gallery, looking stunning on such a beautiful day.
There is so much to see at the Whitworth: we made the most of the quiet & sometimes rather overlooked Bernstein Garden to the north of the gallery as well as the sunny Art Garden. The Williamson Friends were lucky to catch the newly-installed silvery tree by Anya Gallaccio, which is another talking point in the wealth of attractions in offer.
After a group photo we waved them happily on their way, looking forward to hosting many more visits of such lovely people in the future.
