RNCM ON THE ROAD
Brasis Ensemble
Marcelo Nunes Rodrigues, Joana Moura, Marcus Silva, Saulo Martins
Formed by four musicians from Brazil, the Brasis Ensemble are the only double bass quartet in the UK. All four members have been students of Jiří Hudec at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, and over the past few years have also regularly joined the various leading professional orchestras in the UK as section freelancers.
Although they don’t limit themselves to only performing Brazilian music, their goal is to present their culture to a wider audience in as many different venues and communities as possible. Their vision is to share the unknown and the unheard, exploring the double bass in its extremes, from the very bottom of the bass lines to the lyrical, higher registers throughout virtuosic and soloistic passages.
