InSlide Out Trombone Quartet

Formed in early 2024 at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), InSlideOut is an innovative and dynamic trombone quartet dedicated to pushing the boundaries of traditional brass music. The quartet looks to their diverse musical roots to inspire their programmes and performances, and their unique approach to music-making sees them take influence from brass band traditions, choral music, and contemporary works.

The quartet's mission is to transform the relationship between performer and audience, offering a fresh perspective on trombone chamber music. Blending virtuosity with accessibility, their performances are designed to engage listeners with music that is both innovative and entertaining, challenging the conventional norms of the trombone quartet.

In addition to their performances, the quartet is committed to competing at a high level. In May of 2025, InslideOut were awarded the RNCM Philip Jones Brass Prize for Chamber Music and subsequently went on to perform well at the RNCM Chris Rowland Ensemble of the Year competition. Following this success, the ensemble is working towards entering the Royal Overseas League Competition.

As they look toward the future, InSlideOut is excited about the opportunities ahead, and the quartet is eager to continue performing and collaborating. Their shared passion for music, along with their commitment to exploring the trombone quartet genre, promises an exciting journey for both the ensemble and their audiences.
