Cedar String Quartet
Jack Callaghan violin
Archie Freeman violin
Xavier Williams viola
Maya Tucker cello
Formed at the beginning of their music studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, the Cedar Quartet have received coaching from some of the world’s leading chamber musicians.
Over the last year of playing together, the Cedar Quartet have enjoyed rehearsing and partaking in masterclasses; with a particular highlight on preparing a Mendelssohn Quartet and placing ‘highly commended’ in the Nossek Prize, where Donald Grant commented on “a very beautiful and hugely promising performance’’. They also enjoyed playing Tchaikovsky’s String Serenade arranged for string quartet in a conducting masterclass led by Mark Heron, Head of Conducting at the RNCM.
This year, the Cedar Quartet are looking forward to playing their second year together.
