Sophie Clarke is a 24 year old Mezzo-Soprano and Actor from Liverpool. She has been awarded the Hargreaves and Ball Scholarship to study for a Masters of Music in Classical Singing and Opera at The Royal Northern College of Music. Sophie is the RNCM Song Cycle Competition Winner for 2023 and the Patricia Routledge National English Song Competition Winner for 2022, for which she subsequently was invited to perform as part of the London Song Festival. Performance highlights in recent years include the Alto Soloist in Handel’s Messiah at Nottingham’s Albert Hall and the Mezzo-Soprano Soloist in Bernstein’s Mass at The Royal Festival Hall, London.
Ravi Nathwani is an exciting young British Asian guitarist currently in the first year of his Master’s degree at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He is the recipient of a Help Musicians UK Postgraduate Award and the Ian Spencer Fox Guitar Bursary Award. Born in Reading, Ravi began learning the classical guitar at the age of 6, then saxophone at 9. During his time at college he has performed extensively, giving solo and chamber performances within the RNCM’s various concert series and increasingly outside college at a wide range of venues. Ravi is a strong advocate of new music and has an ongoing commitment to both performing contemporary music and to the commissioning of new pieces involving guitar. Ravi has also arranged for guitar ensemble, which has laid a platform of unique concert programmes, including works by Debussy, Couperin and Bach.
