Can you remember the wallpapers you grew up with? You may even recognise one or two of them from the 10,000 examples the Whitworth Art Gallery has collected since 1967.
In conjunction with the Gallery's new wallpaper exhibition 'Open House' which evokes the changing fashion and culture-driven experience of wallpapers since WWII, a group of our talented Friends, led by Christine Tomkinson have organised a wallpaper block printing workshop.
Using the wall paper exhibition as a starting point, this workshop will provide the opportunity to create your own printing blocks and experiment with creating your own designs and repeating patterns for a wallpaper. You could be making blocks from lino, wood or found objects, trialing your own designs or collaborating on producing a group wallpaper. No drawing skill or printing experience necessary for this exciting session.
