We are organising a 5-day trip to London in March 2020
Travelling by Private Coach from Manchester and we will be accompanied by experienced Guide, Jane Brand. Our itinerary has been planned to include and take advantage of our time when travelling to / from and whilst in London and we aim to include the following interesting and especially varied visits:
• Milton Keynes (MK) Gallery - Changing exhibitions of international art sit across five large, beautiful gallery spaces. Cutting edge contemporary art displayed alongside Old Masters to present a dynamic, diverse & stimulating programme
• Spencer House – Built between 1756 & 1766 for John, 1st Earl of Spencer. London’s most magnificent & finest surviving 18th century palace.
• Queens Gallery - a public art gallery at Buckingham Palace dedicated to changing exhibitions from the Royal Collection (those works owned by the King or Queen "in trust for the nation" rather than privately)
• Serpentine Galleries - two contemporary art galleries (the Serpentine Gallery and the Serpentine Sackler Gallery) designed by Zaha Hadid Architects
• Clothworkers Hall – a very special collection of tapestries, plates, clocks and other works of art. The Clothworkers Company is an ancient Livery Company with a rich textile heritage
• Barbican Art Gallery – a world class performing arts centre that hosts classical & contemporary music concerts, theatre performances, film screening & art exhibitions
• Museum of Order of St John - a hidden jewel which tells the unique story of an ancient religious military Order from its origins caring for sick pilgrims in 11th century Jerusalem, through to its modern-day role with St John Ambulance
• Tate Britain - the home of British art from 1500 to the present day. The largest collection of British art in the world with masterpieces by J.M.W. Turner, John Constable & John Everett Millais, as well as modern and contemporary art from Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Barbara Hepworth, David Hockney & Bridget Riley
• Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology - over 80,000 artefacts showing the development of Egyptian culture, technology and daily life from prehistoric to Roman times. The collection includes the world's earliest surviving garment, a dress of around 2800BC
• Pitzhanger Gallery – country home of Sir John Soane & contemporary art gallery housing a series of exhibition by artists, architects and designers
