Duo Antipodes
Sarah Byron saxophone
Sam Rodwell guitar
Duo Antipodes was formed by Australian saxophonist Sarah Byron and English guitarist Sam Rodwell during their postgraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music. This novel pairing of instruments abandons tradition and explores fresh chamber music possibilities, and for two years Sarah and Sam have been commissioning new works for the combination. Duo Antipodes is delighted to announce their performance in July at the World Saxophone Congress in Zagreb, Croatia, presenting the world premiere of Hushby RNCM composition student Carmel Smickersgill.

Australian-born saxophonist Sarah Byron is an award-winning musician with performances in Australia, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. Recently, Sarah performed as principal saxophonist with Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Band Portsmouth, as a soloist with the Sheffield Cathedral Choir and in the world premiere of Tim Garland’s work for large ensemble: Luca’s Winter. Sarah graduated from the Elder Conservatorium of Music with Honours and is currently studying for her Master’s at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Sam Rodwell - guitar
