Shimeng Sun is currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music after having studied harp for four years at the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM) in Beijing from September 2009. She obtained the position as associate lecturer in harp in the Orchestral Music Department at the Tianjin Conservatory of Music. As a soloist, Shimeng has performed regularly in harp recitals and chamber music concerts at the Beijing Forbidden City Concert Hall (FCCH) and CCOM concert hall amongst many others. Shimeng thoroughly enjoys performing in an orchestra. She was principal harpist of the Chinese Youth Symphony Orchestra (CYSO, otherwise known as the CCOM Orchestra) from 2010 to 2013 and joined the CYSO on tours to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in 2013 and 2014.
Aaron Ma began playing piano from the age of five before learning to play the harp at the age of 10. In 2011 Aaron gained a place at the Beijing Normal University where he studied TV and Film Studies. After graduating from this course he continued his studies at the University of Cambridge, studying Music Production and harp with Danielle Perrett. Aaron is currently studying for his Master’s Degree at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. As a freelance harpist in China, Aaron has performed with the China National Symphony Orchestra and China’s National Opera and Dance Theatre Orchestra amongst others. He has also performed with the Traditional Nation Orchestra of China and recorded original music with them.
