An accolade for the Whitworth and its work
We have good news!
When the Whitworth Gallery asked the Friends of the Whitworth to sponsor its new exhibition, Still Parents, Life after Baby Loss we didn’t hesitate. We immediately recognised the importance of this issue, a taboo subject for too long. What’s more, we knew that the exhibition would be the Gallery’s first attempt to work as a “constituent museum”, offering works in its collection to be used by the wider community in order to tell their own story.

It hasn’t surprised us at all that since opening the exhibition’s powerful message has resonated both with Gallery visitors and more widely. It has featured in many television programmes and attracted attention from other galleries and within the NHS, where the healing power of the Still Parents workshops, through which the exhibition was created, has been widely recognised .
And now, we are pleased and proud to say that the Still Parents Exhibition came first in its class at the recent Making a Difference Awards, the University of Manchester’s annual review of the work that goes on to make Manchester a better place to live. The Friends of the Whitworth were there to share the moment and we couldn’t have been more proud.
If you want to find out more about the Exhibition and the Project, visit the website at :http://https://www.whitworth.manchester.ac.uk/whats-on/exhibitions/currentexhibitions/stillparents/
