What's a Look Club?

If you love looking at and talking about art, maybe our Look Club is for you.

Every month we meet -in the Gallery, when we can, on Zoom when that's not possible and take the opportunity to sit and stare! What's this work about? Who produced it? How? Why? What do we feel and think about it?

Although we share the task of making an introduction, it's not a lecture - less formal, more interactive. In it's own way though, it can be equally informative. You might be surprised at how much you can discover when you give yourself time to just look.

A fascinating Look Club in which we looked at some work by Raqib Shaw and talked about merchants in Kashmir and Manchester!

Coming up soon at our Look Club, we'll talk about works by Lubaina Himid, Diego Velázquez and Joaquín Sorolla. 

Jonathan and Joyce talk to us about their love of a work, Oakwood Court, by the late Howard Hodgkin - part of the Whitworth Collection and acquired with the help of the Friends of the Whitworth.
