We are organising a 5 day trip to London in March 2018 travelling by Private Coach from Manchester and we will be accompanied by experienced Guide, Jane Brand. Our itinerary has been planned to include and take advantage of our time when travelling to / from and whilst in London and we aim to include the following interesting and especially varied visits:
- Pembroke College JCR Art Fund Collection- Pembroke was the first college in Oxford to have its own art gallery and the collection now consists of over 250 pieces from many notable post-war British artists.
- Design Museum –This world leading museum offers inspiring insights into the world of contemporary design with exhibitions on fashion, architecture, furniture, graphic, product, transport and digital design.
- Natural History Museum–an opportunity to view the new star of the re-imagined Hintze Hall, a stunning 25.2 meter long blue whale skeleton named Hope.
- V & A Museum – the world’s leading museum of art & design housing a permanent collection of over 2.3 million objects that span over 5,000 years of human creativity.
- Eltham Palace - a showpiece art deco mansion and part medieval royal palace Eltham Palace reflects the glamour and allure of 1930s fashionable society.
- Dulwich Picture Gallery -the oldest public art gallery in England which today is a vibrant cultural hub hosting some of the UK’s leading exhibitions alongside its Permanent Collection of 17th & 18th century European Old Masters in a building designed by Regency Artist Sir John Soane.
- Tate Switch House (The Blavatnik Building) –the world’s most popular museum of modern and contemporary art. The Tate’s £260m new massive structure with vast spaces and panoramic views is a mesmerizing twist on the existing art gallery.
- Guildford Cathedral - an iconic Grade II* listed building designed by Sir Edward Maufe and built between 1936 and 1961.
- Watts Gallery–Watts Gallery beautifully displays over 100 works of the great Victorian artist G F Watts. Spanning a period of 70 years, they include portraits, landscapes and his major symbolic works. There is also a programme of temporary exhibitions showcasing some of the finest works relating to Watts.
- Strawberry Hill House - Britain’s finest example of Georgian Gothic revival architecture. This 19th century imaginary villa was designed by author Horace Walpole between 1749 and 1776.
