Gaskell String Quartet - Lily Whitehurst violin, Abi Hammett violin, Daire Roberts viola, Lucy Hoile cello.
The Gaskell String Quartet are a recently formed ensemble who have quickly made their mark on the Manchester music scene. As winners of the RNCM Schubert Prize and Hirsch Prize for the performance of Beethoven, the Gaskell's have been awarded a place in the final of the Chris Rowland Chamber Ensemble of the Year competition for high quality chamber music at the RNCM. They recently made their Radio 3 debut with a performance of Errollyn Wallen's 'All the Blues I See' and will be recording Nicholas Simpson's complete works for string quartet later this year.

String Quartet No 11 in F minor, Op 122
i. Introduction: Andantino
ii. Scherzo: Allegretto
iii. Recitative: Adagio
iv. Etude: Allegro
v. Humoresque: Allegro
vi. Elegy: Adagio
vii. Finale: Moderato - Meno mosso - Moderato

Sunday 2nd April 2017: Prima Wind Quintet – offer a mix of classical/jazz and modern repertoire
This concert series is funded by the generous bequest left to the Friends of the Whitworth Art Gallery by Miss Gina Miller.
