We will visit Huddersfield Art Gallery to explore the permanent exhibition Perspectives: Aspects of the Kirklees Collection. The display tells the story of some of these most important and admired works. The show includes a monumental John Martin painting ‘Joshua Commanding the Sun to Stand Still upon Gibeon’; the powerful Henry Moore sculpture Falling Warrior, depicting the twisted form of a soldier; a vibrant abstract work by Alan Davie, a beautiful Lucien Pissarro landscape and a Francis Bacon among other gems.
In the afternoon we will visit the National Media Museum in Bradford. The Museum is home to over 3.5 million items of historical significance. It looks after the National Photography, National Cinematography, National Television and National New Media Collections. We will have a conducted tour through the collections with Associate Curators Brian Liddy and Rebecca Smith.
