Have you got a few minutes to help us?
The Friends of the Whitworth have raised significant amounts of money over the years, bought or contributed to the purchase of over 1,000 works of art, and made an important contribution to the funds required to refurbish the Gallery-all this as a volunteer organisation, so that almost every penny raised has gone to the Gallery.
Now for something almost completely different!
Recently, the Friends of the Whitworth submitted a bid to the Aviva Community Fund. We have asked for £10,000 to set up a volunteer programme to expand the Gallery’s Grow programme. Our aim is to work with volunteers from the local community to develop a community garden in our Park. As well as providing a community focus, this project would help volunteers develop skills in horticulture and related areas, increasing their employability. The Whitworth’s Cultural Park Keeper will manage the project and it will enjoy the support of visiting artists and experts in horticulture and landscape design. There is more information about the Grow project, and a video about it, on the Aviva Community Fund website and you can find it by clicking on this link: https://community-fund.aviva.co.uk/voting/project/view/17-6075
Our bid for funding has been accepted to go through to the next stage in this competition and to compete against other applications for votes. The projects which gain the most online votes BY THE 20TH NOVEMBER will go to the next round and present their application to a panel of judges.
Your vote could make all the difference. We would be so grateful for your help.
