Nathan Coley is a Scottish born artist who works with old light bulbs and scaffolding to create works which help us reflect on the buildings around us, why they are built and how we use them. His Gathering of Strangers shines out across Whitworth Park from the roof of the Gallery and has acted as an inspiration to the Friends of the Whitworth. Can this particular Gathering of Strangers become Friends of the gallery, helping it to grow and develop into the next century?
We are grateful to Nathan for his generosity in allowing us to use this work as the theme for our new T shirt, and to Mark Jermyn at On69a, the Salford Print Workshop, based at Islington Mill, for his interpretation in which he has turned the light bulbs into small people-a gathering.
The T shirts are now available for purchase at £15 each (pus £2.00 postage and packing), in medium, large and extra large sizes and in two colours, grey or red. This is a limited edition, so don’t delay in placing your order. To reserve your T shirt, email us at [email protected], stating your name, the size and colour of the T shirt you would like and a postal address, then send your cheque made payable to The Friends of the Whitworth to:
